The best of both worlds.
The plug-in hybrid combines the best of both worlds: long range and extremely low emissions.
An electric motor and an internal combustion engine provide the forwards thrust in the plug-in hybrid. In addition to recuperation, this concept offers the option of charging the vehicle's lithium-ion HV battery at a power outlet or charging station. The powerful lithium-ion HV battery makes it possible to cover longer distances on electric power alone.
Mercedes-Benz has developed a modular system for its plug-in hybrids: four or six-cylinder petrol engines are combined with hybrid modules and batteries with various ratings.
- All-electric driving possible.
- Battery can be charged by means of power outlet, recuperation or the engine.
- Low consumption.
